It wasn’t until I started really getting to the root causes of what was going on in my life, on a nervous system level and began healing that my life began to change.  I finally became unstuck and started to feel a deep sense of joy and peace that I had never experienced before.

And this is why I trained as a Somatic Trauma Informed Coach as whilst talking therapies serve a purpose, for CHANGE to happen it needs to happen in the body/somatically on a deep nervous system level.

We have all experienced some form trauma in our lives.  Trauma is like a heavy backpack we carry from past experiences that can weigh us down.  It could be divorce, a difficult breakup, failure at work, bullying in the playground as a child, all our experiences leave a lasting impact on our minds and bodies and shape how we view ourselves and the world around us.

Trauma isn’t the event itself. It’s what we tell ourselves about the event.

It’s essentially an incomplete stress cycle that lingers within us, waiting to be resolved. And most of us don’t even realise that we have been carrying around the trauma backpack all our lives.

Trauma can have a profound impact on our lives, shaping the way we think, feel, and behave. Our brain and nervous system adapt to trauma as a way to protect us  but these adaptations can become maladaptive in everyday life creating patterns that we unconsciously repeat in an attempt to cope or protect ourselves.

These patterns may manifest as procrastination, difficulties in forming healthy relationships, a constant sense of fear and vulnerability, feeling stuck, a low sense of self worth

Understanding and addressing these patterns is crucial for healing and breaking free from the cycle of trauma.

When we experience trauma, it can have a physical impact on our bodies.

Our nervous system can become dysregulated, leading to headaches, chronic fatigue, gut issues, TMJ (clenched jaw), aches/pains and chronic illnesses such as IBS, Fibromyalgia and autoimmune diseases.

Trauma can disrupt our body’s natural balance and leave us feeling on edge, disconnected and suffering from anxiety, depression and CPTSD.
